    Declan Whearty pleaded guilty to three separate counts of drug possession for personal use at the Good Shepherd Centre, Kilkenny, in November 2021, December 2021 and June 2022. The drugs recovered were heroin and speed. He was sentenced at Kilkenny District Court on 23 September 2022 to a one-month prison sentence suspended on condition he engage with Probation Services. The court heard he became addicted to heroin after meeting people heavily involved in drugs at the centre and now lives with his partner in a tent.
