On 5 May 2025 Declan O'Shaughnessey (42), of Riverview, Millroad, Slane, Meath, was highly intoxicated on Bridge Street, Tullamore, and was reported to have been abusive to gardaí when they arrived. His solicitor, Aisling Maloney, told Tullamore District Court that he had been drinking heavily and had been assaulted earlier, losing a tooth. Judge Andrew Cody ordered him to return to court with €1,000, and the court heard the account on 30 May 2025. In the latest development, reported on 3 June 2025, he returned with €1,000, which was donated to the Garda Benevolent Fund, and the case was struck out.
