  On 22 May 2022, Kenneth Toner was assaulted at the Glen Bar at The Diamond, Carndonagh, Donegal. Adrian McDaid, 50, and Declan McDaid, 38, both of Carndonagh, were charged with assaulting Toner and causing him harm under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. The two men appeared at Letterkenny District Court in September 2025, where the DPP consented to the case going forward to Letterkenny Circuit Court on signed pleas. In November 2025, both men affirmed their guilty pleas at Letterkenny Circuit Court, where the matter was adjourned to the May 2026 session for probation and welfare reports.
