latest first- Templemore man sentenced for assaulting two gardaí Assault (assaulting gardaí); public order (threatening and abusive in public) · Co. Tipperary
Seamus Hennessy, of Templemore, was involved in a public dispute on Main Street, Templemore, near the Bank of Ireland, in April or May 2017, when gardaí were executing a bench warrant. He was observed shouting and using abusive language, and he assaulted garda Declan Kinsella and PJ O'Brien while they tried to execute the warrant, and later assaulted Kinsella in a cell at a garda station. Hennessy was arrested and charged with assaulting two gardaí and being threatening and abusive in public, and he pleaded guilty. At Thurles District Court in January 2022, Judge Elizabeth MacGrath gave him two suspended two-month prison sentences for the assaults, took the public order charge into account, and ordered him to comply with probation supervision.
