• Carndonagh groundworker disqualified for two years after failing to stop for gardaí Dangerous driving · Co. Donegal

In the early hours of Sunday 20 October 2024, a car driven by Declan Fennelly, a 24-year-old man from Carndonagh, Co Donegal, drove off from a car park off the Ballyloskey Road when it saw a garda patrol car, then ran a stop sign and turned onto the R240 at high speed. Gardaí identified Fennelly as the driver, and he made full admissions after being spoken to. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Carndonagh District Court, where Judge Monika Leech refused a defence request to reduce the charge to careless driving. In October 2025 she disqualified him from driving for two years and imposed a €150 fine, which is the latest reported development.
