A man set fire to the home of a Romanian family at 83 Rockfield Manor, Hoey's Lane, Dundalk, Co Louth, over five successive nights in September 2021, causing €420,000 in damage to the house and an adjoining property. Declan Clarke, 41, was arrested and charged with criminal damage by fire in October 2021 and remanded in custody. He pleaded guilty at Dundalk Circuit Court in January 2023. In June 2023, Judge Dara Hayes sentenced him to six years and nine months, with the final 18 months suspended, for a total of five years and three months in prison.
