Dean Smith, a 30-year-old man from Newbridge, is alleged to have stolen property from a car in the Pairc Mhuire region of Newbridge on December 7, 2023. He was also previously charged with two burglary offences at an address on Sexes Road, Newbridge on December 16, 2023, where a man was apprehended and held until gardaí arrived and a house window was allegedly broken. Smith was allegedly stopped by gardaí in the Dara Park region of Newbridge and found with a stolen bank card and a small bag of coins. The two burglary charges were struck out at Naas District Court in March 2024 and a trespass charge was withdrawn, leaving the handling stolen property charge. In June 2024, Judge Desmond Zaidan sent the case forward for trial to Naas Circuit Criminal Court and remanded Smith on bail.
