  On the afternoon of 13 April 2025, a 22-25 year old male prisoner was set upon by four fellow inmates in the exercise yard of Limerick Prison, sustaining cuts to his head. Thomas McCarthy, 32, Danny Connors, 30, Christopher O'Donoghue, 34, and Dean O'Donoghue, 29, were charged with violent disorder. All four entered signed guilty pleas at Limerick Circuit Court, and Judge Colin Daly deferred sentencing to 18 November 2026. The defendants have since made amends with the injured party, who did not wish to make a victim impact statement.

  Dean O'Donoghue, a 26-year-old man with an address at Hyde Road, Limerick City, was arrested as part of a Garda probe into organised crime and feuding in Limerick. Gardaí allege that on Tuesday 24 October 2023, at a house at Umeraboy West, Knocknagree, County Cork, he picked up cocaine and flushed it repeatedly down a toilet after being told to stop. He is charged with obstructing two gardaí and with possession of cocaine, including possession for sale or supply. He appeared before Limerick District Court on Thursday 26 October, made no reply to the charges and was remanded in custody, and on Tuesday 31 October he was again remanded in custody by video link, to appear again on 14 November 2023.
