On 24 June 2019, Dean Matthews, a 25-year-old man from Dromiskin, was one of two men who fled on foot after seeing gardaí at Herity's Car Park, Dromiskin, and was seen putting his hand in a bush from which three packages of cannabis with an estimated street value of €1,260 were recovered. He was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession for sale or supply, and admitted discarding the drugs, saying he smoked and sold them. At Dundalk District Court in late October 2021, Judge John Brennan placed him under a 12-month probation bond on condition he engages with the Probation Service.
