Thomas Kiely (31), a man from Patrickswell, County Limerick, is charged with endangerment and dangerous driving after allegedly driving a car at 190km/h on the N20 near Croom twice in August 2024, on the wrong side of the road with all lights off, and accelerating towards a Garda patrol jeep. Detective Garda Dean Landers took evasive action when the vehicle accelerated at the patrol jeep. Kiely was remanded in custody at Limerick District Court in August 2025 after being put out of court for calling the detective a 'f****** liar'. He was further remanded in custody in September 2025 for a book of evidence from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

On 3 May 2019, Kieran 'Bunny' Barry, a 51-year-old man from Kennedy Park, Limerick, allegedly threatened to kill Detective Garda Dean Landers and his family outside his home during a dispute. Barry was arrested later that night after fleeing into his house and was charged with threatening to kill or cause serious harm, possessing cannabis for sale or supply, possessing cannabis, and resisting the garda. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges and went on trial at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court in October 2024. A jury acquitted him of the threat to kill and of cannabis for sale or supply but convicted him of possessing cannabis and resisting the garda. Barry was jailed for five months on 24 October 2024.
