Shine Thomas, a 47-year-old Indian man, was found guilty at Dublin District Court on 19 February 2026 of impeding an authorised officer and post-arrest violent behaviour. On 20 August 2025, Thomas failed to complete the boarding process at Terminal 1, Dublin Airport, and proceeded to a Ryanair aircraft without authorisation, where he pushed Dublin Airport police officer Dean Farrell at the aircraft stairs. He was restrained and handcuffed, and six Garda members carried him into the station, where he struck Garda Declan Ryan. Judge John Hughes described Thomas's actions as outrageous and noted CCTV showed him bullying the boarding crew. Sentencing was adjourned until May, with a probation report ordered and conditions including an anger-management course.
