Dean Cooke, a man whose age is not given, took food and other items from two Centra shops in Kilkenny without paying, one at Irishtown and one at John's Green, on separate dates in October. Gardaí identified him on CCTV. He pleaded guilty to both theft charges at Kilkenny District Court, and on 20 November 2025 he was sentenced to four months in prison on one charge, with the other taken into consideration.

Two men robbed Mr Martin, a musician from the band The Kilkennys, at knife-point in the centre of Kilkenny City between 3.30am and 4.15am on 7 November 2017, hitting him and walking him along Parliament Street towards an ATM before a garda patrol car pulled up. Dean Cooke, 26, of Good Shepherd Hostel, Kilkenny, was arrested at the scene on foot of an existing warrant and pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery. In March 2022, Cooke was sentenced to a suspended term with a bond and probation conditions, avoiding jail time.
