latest first- Father and son fined for assault in Edenderry Assault · Co. Offaly
On 2 June 2023, a dispute over scrap metal at George's Bridge, Drumcooley, Edenderry, led to an alleged assault on Mark McDonagh, a man, by Dawid Ostasz, 23, and his father Wojiech Ostasz, 45, both men from Edenderry. Mr McDonagh sustained a cut to the top of his head that required staples, while Wojiech Ostasz suffered a broken nose from a hammer. The two men pleaded guilty at Tullamore District Court in February 2024 to assaulting Mr McDonagh and causing him harm, and Wojiech Ostasz also pleaded guilty to producing an axe during the dispute. In June 2024, Judge Andrew Cody fined each man €750 with six months to pay, noting that the father and son had made racist assumptions in pursuing the victim.
