  Fabian Hand, 26, of Banagher, Offaly, was convicted of allowing the smoking of cannabis at his house on 28 April 2021 and obstructing Garda David Treacy during a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, Hand threw one phone into a fire and broke another in two halves, and drugs worth €600 and €4,080 in cash were found. At Tullamore District Court in January 2023, Judge Andrew Cody imposed a €500 fine for the obstruction charge with six months to pay, taking the cannabis charge into consideration. Hand denied using a swear word directed at Garda Treacy in the courtroom after sentencing.
