  Jeffery Moran, a 36-year-old man, was sentenced to seven years in prison, including 18 months suspended, after his Audi struck Detective Sergeant David Scahill at Collins Lane in Tullamore on January 23, 2025. Moran pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at several locations around Tullamore and was convicted of endangerment in the Circuit Court. He was also banned from driving for 20 years. At Tullamore District Court, Judge Cody made no order on activating a suspended sentence for an earlier cannabis offence involving €2,000 worth of drugs.

  On 23 January 2025, Jeffery Moran (36) allegedly drove his Audi A4 at Detective Sergeant David Scahill on Collins Lane in Tullamore, Offaly, knocking him to the ground and causing soft tissue injuries to the shoulder, arm and leg. The car then fled at high speed, creating a substantial risk of death or serious harm to others. Moran was arrested after CCTV identified the vehicle and was charged with endangerment and dangerous driving. He pleaded guilty at Tullamore Circuit Court and was sentenced on 9 June 2026 to five and a half years in jail with a 20-year driving ban.
