latest first- Men jailed for forestry fraud held personally liable in Dublin Fraud · Co. Dublin
Two men, Garret Hevey and David Peile, were jailed for six years each for fraudulently operating Arden Forestry Management as a Ponzi scheme in Dublin. The company, which had a virtual office on Trinity Street, induced 143 foreign investors to deposit around €5.5 million by offering forestry investments through grant schemes and timber sales. The fraud came to light when a Finnish man came to Dublin to check on his investments. In February 2024, the High Court ordered Hevey to be personally liable for the firm's debts of just over €3.8 million, with Peile's liability to be determined at a later hearing.
