  David Molloy, a 40-year-old married father of three and software engineer from Lissycasey, Co Clare, was charged with possessing 36 videos and 77 images of child pornography found on two mobile phones at his home on 18 September 2022, following a referral from UK police to the Garda online exploitation unit. He appeared at Ennis District Court in September 2024 and was returned for trial in October 2024. Molloy pleaded guilty on 28 October 2024, the morning his trial was due to commence. At Ennis Circuit Court in March 2026, Judge Francis Comerford imposed a 20-month prison term, suspending the final 14 months, so Molloy must serve six months.
