Cases
latest first- Sexual abuse civil case heard in Dublin High Court Sexual abuse · Co. Dublin
David Masterson, 56, was sentenced in July 2021 to 18 years' imprisonment with the final year suspended at the Central Criminal Court after pleading guilty to six counts of rape, sexual assault and incest representing 30 offences committed against his daughter Charlene Masterson, 32, between 2007 and 2014 at their family home in Dublin. The abuse began when Charlene was 18, with Masterson blackmailing her through anonymous text messages and forcing her to wear a blindfold and headphones during the assaults, and she did not discover the man was her father for three years. He was already serving a separate seven-and-a-half year sentence for defiling three underage girls after leaving the family home in 2014. In January 2026, Charlene Masterson initiated a civil damages action in the High Court seeking compensation for personal injuries, and the case came before Judge Emily Egan in June 2026.
