latest first- Man acquitted of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm in Donegal Dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm · Co. Donegal
On 17 August 2016, a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle at Dunmore, Carrigans, Co Donegal left David Lecky, a 55-year-old man from Ballyshannon, with life-altering injuries, including the amputation of his left leg below the knee in early 2017. Levi Morrison, a 29-year-old mechanic from Derry, was charged with dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm and pleaded not guilty, while pleading guilty to driving without insurance. At Letterkenny Circuit Court in October 2023, the judge directed an acquittal on the dangerous driving charge, finding the evidence too tenuous to put to a jury, and fined Morrison €500 for the insurance offence without disqualifying him.
