• Garda convicted of careless driving in Ennis Careless driving · Co. Clare

David Kenneally, a 41-year-old serving Garda, was convicted of careless driving at Ennis District Court on 29 February 2024 after a late-night collision with the back of a taxi at less than 10km per hour on Abbey Street, Ennis, on 5 February 2022. He had been charged with drink-driving, careless driving, and consuming intoxicating liquor to frustrate a prosecution, and has been suspended from An Garda Síochána since the offence. After several adjournments at Ennis District Court, he changed his plea to guilty to careless driving mid-hearing and the State withdrew the other two charges. Judge Alec Gabbett fined him €500.
