David Keane (32), of Island Road, Limerick, was arrested after gardaí broke into a flat during an attack on his then girlfriend at Cherrydale Court, Dublin Road, Limerick, on 8 April 2021. The court heard that the attack lasted about two hours and involved false imprisonment and assault causing harm. Keane pleaded guilty to these and to additional charges in Clare and Limerick. On 23 December 2024 he was sentenced at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court to four years in prison with the final year suspended.

David Keane, a 30-year-old man from Limerick, was convicted at Ennis District Court of possession of cocaine with intent to sell or supply on 23 June 2019. Nine bags of cocaine totalling 8.5 grams, along with €1,310 in cash and two mobile phones, were found concealed in his underwear at Ennis Garda Station after his arrest. Detective Garda Kevin Hooban told the court the drugs were leftovers from what Keane sold at a cousin's wedding at Bunratty Castle Hotel and the cash was the proceeds of sale. Judge Mary Larkin sentenced Keane to 100 hours of community service instead of a suspended prison term in March 2023.
