On 22 March 2021, David Hogan, a 31-year-old man, and another man entered a family home at The Gallops, Leopardstown, armed with a wheel brace to collect a drug debt owed by the homeowners' son. Six days later, Hogan and two other men returned to the house, and one of the men damaged the car, smashing the window, headlight and bonnet. Gardaí found Hogan sleeping on a coach at Russell Crescent, Tallaght, where they also recovered over €45,000 worth of drugs including cocaine and cannabis. Hogan pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, burglary, and possession of drugs for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where Judge Melanie Greally sentenced him to eight years with two years suspended, backdated to 31 March 2021.
