latest first- Man sentenced for driving over garda's leg in Dublin Dangerous driving; injury to a member of An Garda Síochána · Co. Dublin
On 22 December 2014, James Flood, 30, of Temple Street West, Dublin 7, was driving through red lights and on the wrong side of the road in the St Patrick Street area of Dublin when gardaí began a pursuit. Garda David Hoare attempted to block Flood's car and was knocked to the ground, after which Flood drove over his leg and foot. Flood was arrested, gave a false name, and later pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after the case was delayed because he absconded for some time. In July 2022, Judge Pauline Codd sentenced Flood to four-and-a-half years in prison with the final six months suspended, a 10-year driving disqualification, and a condition to engage in residential treatment if directed.
