    David Gunther, a 37-year-old man from Loughrea, was summoned before Naas District Court on 23 September 2021 for stealing €64 from a person in Kildare who wished to purchase a golf club on DoneDeal. His solicitor told Judge Desmond Zaidan that the con was created to fuel his gambling addiction and that he had no previous convictions. The judge accepted jurisdiction and ordered Gunther to pay a €300 fine within three months. He has since refunded the stolen money and attends daily Gamblers Anonymous meetings.
