Stephen O'Sullivan, 43, a man and director of Bawn Motors car dealership in Limerick, is accused of giving Detective Garda David Bourke, 51, a man, €20,000 in exchange for confidential information about a Criminal Assets Bureau investigation into his business at Bruree, Co Limerick, on 22 December 2018. Both men were arrested by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation in 2019 and charged under the Criminal Justice (Corruption Offences) Act 2018, to which O'Sullivan pleaded not guilty. The trial began at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in January 2026 before Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin but collapsed in February 2026 when the jury was discharged after a defence application to call a previously unknown witness. The case is listed for mention on 20 February 2026 to fix a new trial date.
