At midnight on 27 December 2025, gardaí on beat patrol on High Street, Kilkenny, observed Dario Pesce, a 32-year-old man listed as living in Oaklawns, Paulstown, Kilkenny, acting aggressively towards another man. Pesce was highly intoxicated, was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station, and was charged with being intoxicated in public and with threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour. Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted him of being intoxicated in public at Kilkenny city court and fined him €300, with his solicitor saying he was remorseful.
