Gardaí searched the home shared by Brendan McDermott, 38, and Danielle McDaid, 37, at Donagh Park, Carndonagh, Donegal, on 17 March 2021 and found 445 ecstasy tablets worth €4,450, cocaine on two plates, weighing scales and zip-lock bags. McDermott, a pig farmer, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for sale and supply while McDaid, his former partner, admitted possession of the drugs. The case was heard at Letterkenny Circuit Court before Judge John Aylmer in October 2023. McDermott was sentenced to 240 hours of community service, reduced from 12 months, and McDaid was fined €500 with six months to pay.
