Daniela Rusescu, a 34-year-old Romanian woman living in Northampton, UK, was arrested at Terminal 1 in Dublin Airport on 24 October 2026 just after 8.30pm following the arrival of a flight from Barcelona. She faces two counts under Section 6(1) of the Criminal Justice (Smuggling of Persons) Act 2021 for assisting a man to enter Ireland on 10 October and 24 October. She appeared before Judge Áine Clancy at Dublin District Court on Monday, where a GNIB detective opposed bail citing flight risk concerns. She has yet to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear again on Wednesday.
