    Daniel Trifan, a 50-year-old Romanian man and former driving instructor from Clonee, Dublin 15 (reports give his age as 51), is alleged to have sat 21 driver theory tests for paying customers between 9 June and 14 November 2019. He was charged, left the State, and was arrested in Cyprus on a European Arrest Warrant and extradited to Ireland in September 2025. He appeared before Dublin District Court on 20 September 2025, was remanded in custody and sent forward for trial in the Circuit Court, and later pleaded guilty to two conspiracy offences. In January 2026 Dublin Circuit Criminal Court imposed a 12-month sentence backdated to his extradition in September 2025.
