Noel Twomey, 55, a former county footballer and GAA club chairman, punched Daniel O'Leary, the Macroom senior football team coach, twice in the head at TP Cotter's bar in Macroom on 24 September 2023, after Macroom won a crucial relegation game. Twomey admitted the punch but said he acted in self-defence, claiming he feared he was about to be attacked. The incident was captured on CCTV, which a Detective Garda showed to the court.
