  Daniel Okungbowa, a man aged 35, was convicted at the Central Criminal Court of raping two women while they were asleep in Dublin, one on 26 November 2016 and one on 13 September 2020. He was arrested and interviewed about the 2016 offence and denied any sexual contact, and he maintained his innocence over the 2020 rape until he pleaded guilty to the 2016 rape after the 2020 verdict. On 23 July 2024, Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo set a headline sentence of 14.5 years and imposed a global sentence of 13 years with the final 18 months suspended, leaving 11.5 years in custody.
