On March 24, 2023, a crash between two cars occurred at Cluggan Cross in Pallasgreen, County Limerick, damaging both vehicles but causing no injuries. Daniel Coughlan, 52, of Kealouge, Oola, pleaded not guilty to careless driving at Kilmallock District Court, where the other driver, student Cillian O'Brien, gave evidence that Coughlan cut in front of him. Coughlan denied this and denied asking O'Brien to sign a paper accepting responsibility for the crash. Judge Patricia Harney found Coughlan guilty, and the latest reported development, in a November 21, 2024 report, is that he was fined €250 and a recognisance on his own bond of €150 was set for an appeal.
