latest first- Drumlish motorist pleads guilty to driving without insurance on two occasions Driving without insurance · Co. Longford
On 9 June 2022 at about 1.30am, gardaí conducting a checkpoint at Churchview Drive, Drumlish, Co Longford, pursued and stopped a driver who appeared to try to avoid it. The driver, Daniel Cooney of Cairnhill View, Drumlish, a man, was arrested and charged, and his vehicle was seized, and a second stop by gardaí at Ballyminion on 19 April (year not stated) also led to a charge of driving without insurance. In court Mr Cooney pleaded guilty to both offences, and Judge Bernadette Owens directed a community service report. As of 24 June 2025, the judge had indicated 120 hours of community service in lieu of four months' imprisonment if the probation report is positive, and sentencing was awaiting that report.
