  On 4 June 2026, Gardaí seized cocaine and cannabis with an estimated combined value of €55,000, about €60,000 in cash and high-end designer goods, including Rolex watches, during multiple searches of properties in Kilkenny City and Kells. A man in his thirties, named as Daniel Burke, was charged with having drugs for sale and supply and with money laundering, and he appeared at Waterford District Court on 5 June 2026, where he was remanded on bail. Reporting on 8 June stated that he is accused of drugs offences under sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and of money laundering at his home address in Kilkenny. He is due to appear before Kilkenny District Court on 16 June 2026, and Garda investigations are ongoing.

  On 9 September 2021 a plainclothes garda in County Kilkenny observed Daniel Burke, a man from Knocktopher, acting suspiciously while he held a container of white powder. When told he would be searched, Burke opened his hand and showed the garda a packet of cocaine valued at €170. He pleaded guilty to illegal possession of drugs at Kilkenny District Court, and the court ordered him to donate €1,000 to the Court Poor Box and dismissed the charge. The disposal was reported in March 2025, which is the latest development.
