latest first- Man sentenced to life for partner's murder in Meath Murder · Co. Meath
Larisa Serban, a 26-year-old Romanian woman and mother of two, was stabbed to death at her rented home in Rathmore, near Athboy, County Meath, in the early hours of 12 August 2022. Her partner Daniel Blanaru, a 37-year-old Romanian man, presented himself at Drogheda Garda Station around 6am and was charged with her murder on 13 August 2022. He pleaded not guilty, and his trial at the Central Criminal Court before Ms Justice Eileen Creedon ran for seven weeks from February 2025. A jury returned a unanimous murder verdict on 1 April 2025 after three hours of deliberation. On 10 April 2025, Ms Justice Creedon sentenced Blanaru to the mandatory term of life imprisonment.
