latest first- Charges struck out in Donegal Health Act breach case Breach of Health Act (Covid-19 regulations) · Co. Donegal
Damien Whoriskey, a 35-year-old man from Gortahork, Donegal, was charged with breaches of the Health Act after Gardaí found tradesmen working on site at his pub, Teach Bhillie, in March 2021 and patrons sitting at tables with drinks in December 2020. He appeared at Falcarragh District Court in April 2022, where Judge Deirdre Gearty struck out both charges after he made a €1,000 donation to Donegal Hospice. The judge noted that Gardaí were placed in a very difficult position over enforcement of the regulations in rural areas.
