  Gardaí stopped and searched an Opel Corsa at a filling station in Charleville, Co. Cork, at approximately 11pm on 20 August 2025, recovering a double-barrel shotgun, a loaded 3D-printed handgun, an AK-style assault rifle, ammunition, and approximately €800 worth of diamorphine. brothers Gary Walsh, 40, of Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, and Damien Walsh, 32, of Whitegate, Co. Cork, were arrested at the scene and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. Follow-up searches at domestic residences in Cork on 21 August yielded further ammunition. Both men were charged with possessing a .22 calibre 3D-printed pistol and possessing five .22 calibre long rifle ammunition at a special sitting of Mallow District Court on 22 August 2025, where Judge Monika Leech refused bail and remanded them in custody.
