Damian Zygmunt, a 33-year-old man, was sentenced at Letterkenny Circuit Court in November 2025 for assaulting Klaudia Bladek, a woman, on two occasions. In March 2022 he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the floor at Mark House, Stranorlar, and on May 27, 2025, the day a jury was sworn in for his trial, he hit her across the face with an open hand and told her he would kill her. He was charged with assault causing harm, criminal damage and a further assault, and pleaded guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court after previously pleading not guilty 48 hours earlier. He was sentenced to three and a half years for assault causing harm and 16 months for criminal damage to run concurrently, plus four months consecutive for the most recent assault, with parts suspended and a probation order.
