    On 3 April 2021 Customs officers stopped Daljeet Singh, an English man aged 52, at Dublin Port as he came off a ferry from Holyhead in a van carrying about 55kg of cannabis herb, valued at €1 million or €1.1 million by different sources. Singh was arrested by gardaí and later charged with unlawful possession of the cannabis and possession for sale or supply, with the charge reported on 5 April 2024. He was remanded in custody, granted legal aid, and at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in November 2024 he pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis herb for sale or supply. The case was adjourned to 13 November 2024 for finalisation, and no sentence has been reported yet.
