  Dale Brophy, aged 24, of De Vere Court, John Carew Park, Limerick, is accused of brandishing a 12-inch carving knife during an incident at a shop in the city centre in the early hours of 23 October 2021. A man was struck in the face and knocked to the ground following an initial altercation involving two other men, after which Brophy left the store and armed himself before returning. Brophy faces charges of brandishing an offensive weapon and public order but is not charged with assault. At his first court appearance in May 2022, the DPP directed prosecution on indictment and bail was refused on garda objection, with Brophy remanded in custody pending his circuit court appearance.
