On 23 September 2024, a man hijacked a silver Nissan Qashqai from Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1, with five-month-old Daisy Hall in the back seat while her mother was removing a buggy from the boot, dragging her as he drove off. The car was recovered on North Richmond Street with the baby safe and well around 4pm, and a man was arrested the following day. Noel Ryan, 48, of no fixed abode, was charged with hijacking a vehicle and abduction of a child and pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to seven years in prison on 4 April 2025.
