A 54-year-old man, Dainius Sakevicius, pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing harm after punching his then partner multiple times on the face at their home in Bray, Co Wicklow, on 26 December 2022. He had been drinking for five days before entering her bedroom about 30 minutes after she went to bed, looking for a speaker, and striking her on the forehead, right eye, nose and mouth. The woman suffered facial bruising, a loose tooth and arm soreness and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital before being referred to St James's Hospital. At the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in April 2024, Judge Orla Crowe imposed a suspended sentence of one year and nine months with 18 months of probation conditions including Men Overcoming Violence and alcohol addiction treatment.
