Cyril Mullane, 51, a man from Borefield, Strokestown, Co Roscommon, was sentenced on 15 April 2024 to 13 years in prison, with the final 18 months suspended, for repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting his daughter Chloe Mullane between June 2011 and September 2016. The offences, committed when Chloe was aged six to 12, took place at Mullane's homes in Co Sligo and Norfolk, England. A Central Criminal Court jury found him guilty of 26 counts, including 11 of oral rape, 14 of sexual assault and one of attempted rape, after he denied the charges. Chloe Mullane, now 19, waived her anonymity so her father could be named. The judge described the abuse as having poisoned the victim's youth and noted a significant breach of trust.
