latest first- Romanian man jailed for sex act with 15-year-old in Limerick Defilement of a child under 17 (sex act with underage girl) · Co. Limerick
On 5 July 2020, a 15-year-old girl who had run away from home and was staying in a Limerick hotel came into contact with Cristian Gogosiou (40), a Romanian man, who agreed to drive her to a friend's home if she performed oral sex on him, and the act took place in a carpark. After the girl told her mother, they went to a Garda station to make a complaint. Gogosiou, who was already serving an eight-year sentence imposed in 2024 for a 2019 rape in Limerick, pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court to one count of defilement of a child under 17. In June 2025 Judge Colin Daly reduced a headline sentence of four years by six months to three and a half years and placed Gogosiou on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
