On the evening of 18 July 2021, a woman was punched, pushed to the ground and had her phone taken and damaged on Seamus Ennis Road, Finglas, north Dublin, suffering a fractured elbow and other injuries. Gardaí identified the attackers as Craig Mains, 28, and Shane Daly, 27, after CCTV footage from a nearby funeral home showed two men running to and from the scene. The robbery charges were dropped by the DPP, and both men pleaded guilty to a new indictment, with Mains pleading guilty to assault causing harm and criminal damage and Daly to assault. In May 2026, Mains was sentenced to three years with the final 18 months suspended, and Daly to three months suspended for 12 months, after the judge described the attack as savage and unprovoked.
