  • Former soldier sentenced over child sexual abuse content, Limerick Possession and production of child sexual abuse material · Co. Limerick

    Cormac Browne, a 23-year-old man from Newcastle West, Limerick, was investigated over child sexual abuse material after intelligence from ICMEC and a report from Snapchat. Gardaí searched his home in Newcastle West on 9 April 2023 and arrested him on 3 December 2023. He pleaded guilty to seven charges, including possession and production of child sexual abuse material. The latest development, reported on 25 February 2026, is that the Limerick Circuit Criminal Court imposed suspended 18-month sentences on four counts, ordered 240 hours of community service on count 2, and placed him on the Sex Offenders Register.
