  Constantin Iosca, 46, a Romanian man of Scholars Walk, Lusk Village, Co Dublin, claimed he was injured when a car knocked him off his bike on 1 June 2016, and submitted a personal injury claim to the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) in July 2016. Surveillance by G4S, employed by insurer FBD, and CCTV led Iosca to withdraw his High Court claim three days into the hearing in January 2020, and gardaí began an investigation in March 2020. After a week-long trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in November 2025 a jury convicted him of deception, and on 26 January 2026 Judge Patricia Ryan sentenced him to three years and six months, with the final nine months suspended on strict conditions for three years after release.
