latest first- Rape conviction appeal judgment reserved in Kerry Rape · Co. Kerry
Conor Quaid, 27, a man from Monaree, Dingle, Co Kerry, was convicted of raping a woman at her home in County Kerry on 10 June 2018. A jury at the Central Criminal Court in Cork returned a majority verdict of 10 to 1 following a seven-day trial in September 2020, and he was sentenced to six-and-a-half years' imprisonment. Quaid is appealing the conviction on the grounds that the trial judge erred in failing to define recklessness in her charge to the jury. The Court of Appeal heard the appeal in March 2022 and has reserved judgment.
