On Monday evening, 15 July 2024, armed gardaí went to a house in Carrigaline, Co Cork, after reports of a firearm, following a domestic dispute in which 18-year-old Conor Farrell was alleged to have threatened a family member. After a standoff he threw the gun out of a window and was arrested and taken to Togher Garda station, and no shots were fired and no one was hurt. He was charged with producing a handgun and with criminal damage to a television, and on 17 July at Cork District Court gardaí objected to bail while his solicitor consented to remand, so he was remanded in custody to appear by video link on 24 July.
