On 15 May 2021, gardaí stopped a white van at a checkpoint at Curry Church, Longford, and found cocaine worth nearly €16,597 hidden in the driver's door and footwell. The driver, Colin Shanley of Drumsillagh, Cootehall, Boyle, Roscommon, was aged 46 in 2023 reports and 47 and 48 in later reports, and was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and possession for sale or supply. He pleaded guilty at Longford Circuit Court, and the case was adjourned to 28 October 2025. In November 2025, Judge Kenneth Connolly directed him to complete 100 hours of community service and imposed a three-year jail sentence, suspended for three years, with a probation bond.
